About

My story

My life is a series of second chances and surprises.  I never could have predicted much of it and I am increasingly more comfortable with the uncertainty.  After leaving a successful corporate career at the end of 2014, I thought I would return to my management consulting business.  God had a better idea.

For five years, I worked within the Episcopal Church to help welcome all as Christ and create authentic relationships within church communities.  This was extremely fulfilling work and inspired me for years. But God has called me to a different ministry focus: advocacy. This requires even more courage as an evangelist and I firmly know that my advocacy must be done as an outspoken Christian because the loudest Christian voices right now are filled with condemnation.

The Texas 2021 legislative session was a traumatic experience. There were times when my testimony was the only affirming Christian voice during hours of public hearings. The tears from those who were moved by a Christian who would boldly affirm the sacredness of LGBTQ+ lives solidified my commitment. It was a bitter pill as I accepted that our oppressors were other Christians who were supposed to be agents of love but were instead just big bullies.

As I plan my return to the capitol for the 2023 session, I do so with scars but also with significant support. I hope that my work will make the lives of LGBTQ+ Americans safer, fairer, and fuller. I also hope if you are reading this, you will join me in this healing work.
